Biochemistry74: a look at DNA and RNA

DNA and RNA are two types of nucleic acids that play crucial roles in the storage and expression of genetic information. DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is the molecule that carries the genetic instructions for the development, functioning, growth, and reproduction of all living organisms. It consists of two long chains of nucleotides twisted into a double helix structure. RNA, or ribonucleic acid, is a molecule that is essential for various biological processes, including protein synthesis, gene regulation, and the transmission of genetic information from DNA to proteins. Unlike DNA, RNA is typically single-stranded and contains the sugar ribose instead of deoxyribose.
